Hello everyone,
Another season goes by, and a few snowstorms later, we would really need to relax a bit.
The Québec Region team would like to offer you a day focused on success, relief and relaxation. To bring a little comfort to your daily lives interspersed with trials and sometimes even pain, we felt it was important to have a positive atmosphere shine through during this day. We have therefore invited several speakers who will address you in a positive manner!
We will begin the day with Sylvie Thivierge, speech therapist for some thirty years now. She previously worked for 10 years at the Institut de réadaptation en déficience physique de Québec (IRDPQ), Québec’s physical rehabilitation institute, and has been practising in the private sector for several years, working with children, teenagers and adults. She has delivered many lectures on learning disabilities. Ms. Thivierge will speak to us about the link between written and oral language and suggest some possible interventions to promote the development of learning techniques for syntax, grammar, spelling and calculation.
Then, you will have the opportunity to hearLawrence Marshall, physiotherapist-osteopath. He will present a workshop entitled “RPM: Respiration-Position-Mental.” He will also demonstrate various massage techniques and propose some ways to promote relief and wellness. He will speak to us about possible relaxation massages for persons with nervous system disorders. Mr. Marshall has several years of experience with all types of clients (children, teenagers and adults).
In the afternoon, we will listen to the personal story of Valérie Gosselin M.Psych., psychologist, founder and co-director of the Clinique Amis-Maux, as well as member of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec. She will tell us about her experience living with disease (cystic fibrosis) and her personal journey to maintain a positive attitude toward life.
Having a great passion for scrapbooking, in addition to telling you about her personal story, Valérie will teach you a few techniques of this art that you will be able to put into practice during the arts and crafts activity, more specifically in the design of Easter cards. Both children and adults can join in this gathering, which is intended more as a time to chat and have fun. Valérie will take this opportunity to speak to you about the therapeutic benefits of art and tell you how scrapbooking helped her grab hold of life again.
For the children who will be spending the day with us, a large room will be made available to them with various board games, a television and DVDs.Two activity leaders will ensure supervision for the morning. There will also be a hot lunch offered at the IRDPQ. The menu is provided below. Please confirm your presence as soon as possible, before April 5. You will find all the information on accommodations near the Centre Cardinal-Villeneuve (IRDPQ).
